Passionate about wood

Adrian de Bruin – Director/Owner

I have always loved working with wood. I started in the industry serving my apprentiship in 1976 at a small cabinetmaking firm called Woodways. I first passed trade cert after 4 years and then continued onto advanced trade cert, passing that after another year gaining the top marks in New Zealand. After nine years with this firm I decided to start my own business and de Bruin Cabinetmakers Ltd was born.

Over the years we ended up employing several staff, most of whom we put through apprenticeships. Of these, 3 have gone on to owning their own business.

I have also helped with setting up the new F.I.T.O. training units (Furniture Industry Training Organisation ) and I have also been a F.I.T.O. training assessor for new apprentices in the Waikato.

When I’m not making furniture, I love to go fishing or travel as both our children and granddaughter live in Perth.

I am happy to discuss any ideas you may wish to talk about with regards to ideas for furniture or other solid wood items. Please feel free to call and ask for me.
